Practicing education law for the past 8 years, Deusdedi Merced recently started his own practice representing children with disabilities and working in other education law matters after having worked in his previous firm for approximately 3 years. Prior to private practice, Mr. Merced worked for the New York City Department of Education as an Impartial Hearing Officer for suspensions and as an attorney for the Chancellors law office. Mr. Merced is on the Board of Directors of Ramapo for Children, which provides services for underprivileged children with significant emotional and behavioral difficulties. He also serves on the Advisory Board of The Kathryn A. McDonald Education Advocacy Project, whose mission is to provide a clear and consistent voice for children who are the subject of child protective petitions in the Family Court in order to obtain appropriate services through the Board of Education or Early Intervention Program. Mr. Merced received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University and graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor of Arts. |

Paul came to the Office in October of 2004. Although he has significant experience in many aspects of law, the major part of his career has been focused on the needs of special education students. After graduating from St. Johns University School of Law he spent two years in private practice before joining the Special Education Unit of the Office of Legal Services in the NYC Department of Education eventually assuming supervisory responsibilities as Assistant Deputy Counsel. Acting as of Counsel to the Office he brings expert experience and knowledge of the laws governing the provision of educational services for students with disabilities. |
